PLACE: Welcoming Center West Facility, 52nd and Spruce Street, Phila, PA 19131 (across from the Sunoco gas station on the second floor of Big George's Diner)

WHAT: Harvest Celebration Party Miracle on 52nd Street!

The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians connects newly arrived immigrants from around the world with the economic opportunities that they need to succeed. Since opening their doors in 2003 they have assisted more than 2000 people from 64 countries.

Help make this thanksgiving season special for new immigrants! As a volunteer you will...
* Help set up a holiday party including photos with Santa!
* Organize special holiday arts and crafts!
* Tell stories and read books about holiday rituals from around the world to kids!

SEPTA Directions:
The Welcoming Center West Holiday Party facility is located on the second floor of Big George's Diner on the corner of 52nd and Spruce streets across from the Sunoco Gas Station.

Take the Market Frankford Line to 52nd Street. Walk South on 52nd to Spruce Street.

You can also take the 21 or 42 Bus to 52nd Street and walk south toward Spruce Street.

SUNDAY SERVICE - Philadelphia Marathon & Art Museum Trip

Support Runners in the 15th Philadelphia Marathon & Visit the Art Museum for FREE!

DAY: Sunday, November 23, 2008
TIME: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Meet up Location: Philadelphia Museum of Art Eakins Oval (out front by Rocky Steps) behind the Starting Corrals (13.25 mile mark) Art Museum Main Building Philadelphia, PA 19101

WHAT: Volunteers will set up, monitor and run Water Stop #7 which is a starting and finish line water stop. Students will also help with other finish line support including re-hydration fluids and the food tent as needed.

BONUS: Hour long optional trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Art following the service project to view the Gee’s Bend Quilts and other exhibits.

NOTES: Dress for weather, as we will be outdoors! Please don't forget your permission slip!

SEPTA DIRECTIONS:

SEVERAL ROADS ARE CLOSED OFF FOR THE PHILADELPHIA MARATHON MAKING IT UNCERTAIN WHICH BUSES WILL BE DIVERTED. PLEASE CHECK WITH BUS DRIVERS BEFORE BOARDING THE BUS.

Market-Frankford Line: Take the MFL to the City Hall Stop. Walk out to 15th and Arch and catch the 48 Bus (Direction: 27th and Allegheny). Get off 48 at 22nd and Pennsylvania Avenue and walk towards the front of the Art Museum and the starting corrals. Ask for Water Stop #7.

Broad Street Line: Take the BSS to City Hall. Walk out and transfer to the 48 bus at 15th and Arch Street (Direction: 27th and Allegheny) and follow the directions above.

Trolleys/ Buses: SEPTA bus routes 7, 32, 38, 43, and 48 currently serve the Museum area.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
From I-676 West (Vine Street Expressway)
Take I-676 West to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway exit (22nd Street, Museum area), on the right side. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto 22nd Street and get into the far left lane. The Benjamin Franklin Parkway is a boulevard with two outside lanes and two inside lanes. Turn left onto the outside lanes of the parkway toward the Museum, which will be in front of you on the hill. Follow the sign for the Art Museum. After the sign, turn left at the first traffic light (Art Museum Drive). Follow the road up to the West Entrance of the Museum, where limited parking is available.

From Western Locations: Valley Forge, King of Prussia
Take I-76 East to Philadelphia. Take Exit 343 (Spring Garden Street). At the end of the exit ramp, turn left. Continue past the side of the Museum, through the first traffic light and around Eakins Oval, staying in the far left lane. Turn left at the second traffic light and then bear right. Follow the sign for the Art Museum. After the sign, get in the far left lane and turn left at the first traffic light (Art Museum Drive). Follow the road up to the West Entrance of the Museum, where limited parking is available.
